Happy belated New Year!! Last year was my busiest yet and 2012 is already shaping up to match it (or surpass it.)
I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has passed along a good word to someone else about my show. For all the time and money I spend on marketing, the fact of the matter is, most of my bookings now come from referrals. I am humbled every time I find out that a new client came across my services from a friend's or colleague's recommendation rather than via the traditional booking agencies, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'll take the business however I can get it, but knowing that you provided an entertainment experience that was impacting enough to cause someone to take the time to recommend it to someone else, well, that's an awesome feeling!! Thank you!

Where does the time go? It was just over 6 weeks ago when I started my run at Fort Fright and now it's over! We had a lot of fun! Even when the weather was inclement, we took the show indoors into a smaller, more intimate setting and continued to demonstrate the power of suggestion via my "Mind Bender Show".
"What's the 'Mind Bender Show'?" Glad you asked! This is a 45 minute presentation consisting of various demonstrations using random volunteers from my audience to demonstrate incredible feats of mind reading. Implementing a variety of scenarios, I attempt to demonstrate areas of psychic phenomena including ESP, Psychometry, Telepathy, Mind Control and more!! Is it real? You be the judge!
The Mind Bender Show is perfect for smaller audiences or events with limited budgets. Perfect for birthday parties, anniversaries, stags or stagettes, or wherever there's a gathering in need of some incredibly memorable entertainment! Feel free to drop me a line and I'd be happy to provide you a quote within 24 hours.

Well, we are three shows into my run at Fort Fright and having an absolutely frightfully wonderful time! Just a quick note here to let you know about a change to the schedule. My show will now start at 8:30pm nightly, Wed. thru Sat. (instead of 7:00pm as previously noted.) This allows us to accommodate the larger crowds that tend to arrive a couple hours after the gates open (6pm).
I would highly encourage you to arrive early though, and check out "The Fire Guy"! He is not only hilarious, but does things with fire that only a crazy man would attempt! I share a dressing room with him...trust me - he's nuts!
Also worth noting, in the event of wet weather, we take the show indoors and instead of hypnosis we do a stripped down, intimate and eery mind-reading show! By "stripped down", I mean no special lighting or sound effects. I do remain fully clothed. Just thought I should clarify that!

More excited, I could not be! Fort Fright 2011 opens tomorrow evening and I am ready and rarin' to go! 24 nights, 24 shows!! For the next 6 weeks I am not just Buzz Collins, Comedy Hypnotist, I am "The Haunted Hypnotist, Buzz Collins". What I am so haunted by? Well, a number of things, but let's not get into that.
The gates open at 6pm every Wed., Thurs., Fri. and Sat. My show goes at 7pm sharp each night. By the way, the show is included with your admission!
For the really brave, groups are welcome to book overnight stays in some of the most haunted rooms in the Fort. I am also making myself available for private mind-reading performances for any of those groups planning to sleep over!

Sweet dreams!! (insert evil laugh here.)

For those who were in attendance at my latest show (Time To Laugh Comedy Club in Kingston), you were the first to hear the official announcement that I will be headlining at this Fall's Fort Fright. It hasn't been a complete secret. Anyone who perused my show schedule on this website, would've been up to speed on that piece of info for some time. However, my public announcement this past Friday night signals, more or less, the launch of my promotional campaign for a festival that has become Fort Henry's largest annual visitor draw.
Fort Fright is what Fort Henry transforms in to for a six week period beginning Sept. 21st. It's more than just a haunted walk through of one of Canada's most documented haunted dwellings. Every evening at 7pm from Wednesday through Saturday, visitors will be treated to my live "Haunted Hypnosis" show on the outdoor stage. Following that, there's also a fire performer and, of course, the walk-through itself which features elaborate mazes, high tech FX and even the opportunity to go for a "coffin ride"!!
For the really brave, get your co-workers, friends and family together for an overnight stay in one of the Fort's haunted rooms! A private mind reading show by your's truly is also available for overnight attendees! I would love to "pick your brain"!!

The power available within your own mind is unbelievable! For those who may not be aware, I host a daily morning radio show in Kingston, Ontario on CKWSfm. Yesterday, I was interviewing endurance swimmer Vicki Keith.
Among her accomplishments, Vicki has swam across Lake Ontario several times as well as the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Next week she will compete with 5 other athletes in the "Tri-Til-You-Cry" triathlon. This involves 2 hours of swimming followed by 2 hours of cycling followed by 2 hours of running - over and over until you can't physically go any longer!
I asked Vicki if she ever has one of those moments during her marathon swims where she feels like she just can't continue. She replied, "Absolutely, but I've already told myself from the beginning that quitting is not an option."
Now I'm not saying that all one needs to acccomplish any physical feat is some positive affirmation. Serious training and proper diet are, of course, crucial. However, it's at those moments when one begins to question there ability to succeed, despite all the training, where a healthy mindset can make all the difference.
You don't have to swim across one of the Great Lakes to put this truth into practise. Maybe your "marathon swim" is getting in to the gym on a regular basis. For some, it may be facing an uncomfortable situation at work. Whatever it may be, let me encourage you to follow the same methodolgy of Vicki Keith.
Convince yourself that failure is not an option. Quitting is not a consideration. Meditate daily on those concepts. Find a quiet moment each day (even if it's for just a few minutes) and let those ideas become entrenched within your mind. Visualize yourself overcoming whatever challenge lays ahead of you. When your mind accepts those ideas as truth, you will be amazed at what you accomplish!
